SPOTLIGHT – Voluma
What is Voluma?
Voluma, Allergan’s best-selling hyaluronic filler, lives up to its hype – it provides the highest concentration of hyaluronic acid, lifting capabilities, and longest duration (up to 2 years!) compared to all other fillers.
What areas does Voluma perform at its best?
Think of Voluma as a structural replacement for fat pads or bone and a builder of the foundation needed to shape the cheeks, chin, nasolabial folds, and marionette lines – these areas are where we see volume loss over time. Voluma can also be used to shape the chin or jawline to naturally enhance your facial structure.
SKIN CARE – Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
What holds thousands of times its weight in water, adds moisture without clogging pores, stimulates growth factor production, aids in wound healing, AND helps to smooth fine lines and skin texture? Hyaluronic acid!
Hyaluronic acid has long been known to play a large role in youthful skin. High quality topical hyaluronic acid fragments, like those found in Skinceuticals’ HA Intensifier and Skin Medica’s HA5, have been shown in clinical studies to benefit and plump the uppermost levels of skin – much like how injectable fillers stimulate the same effect below the skin.
Topical HA products can be used by themselves or as the perfect home-care complement to injectable HA fillers. Physician-dispensed HA products like HA Intensifier and HA5 have a higher concentration of active ingredients, higher quality hyaluronic acid particles, and sound science to support their effectiveness.
TRUTH or DARE
TRUTH: It is not possible to look like a “Housewife of (insert city here)” with only one syringe of filler. One syringe corresponds to 1mL or a fifth of a teaspoon if you were to squirt out an entire syringe in your hand. While one syringe carefully placed will start the process of building back lost volume, in most cases more than one syringe is needed to achieve all your desirable outcomes.
DARE: Dare to use more filler if you are not satisfied after 1 or 2 syringes. You’d be surprised at the AVERAGE amount of syringes required for certain areas – 2 syringes for the tear trough area, 3-4 syringes for the cheeks/mid-face, 2 syringes for nasolabial folds, 4 syringes for the jawline/lower face.
Call us for a complimentary consultation so we can help you plan your ultimate filler regimen!
HOUSE OF HALLOWEEN HORRORS
Under the Mask-ne (mask acne)
No one seems to be safe from dreaded mask-ne these days! Annie and Dr. Tanabe have recommendations for you to protect your skin!
ANNIE (Licensed Esthetician):
Wash your face as soon as you get home! For a severe breakout, her favorite product treats are:
- Skinceuticals Blemish + AGE Defense – to spot treat and help prevent discoloration
- Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Gel – to reduce redness and soothe skin
- Skinceuticals Epidermal Repair – has beta glucan to calm and lightly moisturize and heal the skin barrier
